Anyone doing their own trip should be aware of the time it will take. You should plan for 2 miles per hour in a boat with no stops and at times less than 1 mph in a tube.
Dan River Campground Access
This access is privately owned and maintained and is not open to the public.
Centrally located on the Dan River in Rockingham County, this is one of the best access points on the river. There is a great run from either Lindsay Bridge access (about 7 miles and 3 hours in a boat) or from 704 bridge (about 4.5 miles and 2 hours in a boat). There is a nice, mostly flat water run from here to Settle Bridge (about 4.5 miles and 2 hours in a boat). Use of this access is restricted to customers of Dan River Adventures and campers at Dan River Campground.
Lindsey Bridge Access
This is the northern most access we use. Up river from this access is a dam. Views are shown below.
704 Bridge Access
This access is in Madison. There are steps here down to the river. There is a large parking lot and the access is well maintained by Dixie Penn and the M&M recreation center. Below are up river and down river views of the access.
